Detox

There has been a huge surge of interest in Colon Cleansing and Detox Diets that take toxins out of the body.  Most of us have not been eating an ideal diet and living the perfectly healthy lifestyle.  Toxins can accumulate in the body and in the organs, colon and bloodstream due to poor dietary habits and improper digestion.

There are different approaches and plans such as a liver detox, kidney detox or colon cleanse, master cleanse and juice fasts as well as detoxification diets and detox body cleansers.

Normally when you embark on a program of change in order to help cleanse the body and rid yourself of toxins, you have to make certain changes in your lifestyle.
You have to start to reverse the cause of the body becoming toxic in the first place by changing the diet and helping the body to detox as well as to aid in the digestion process in order to have better elimination and less stagnation in the digestive sysytem.  Fortunately, not all health starts from the outside in. Body detox cleansers are just as important as the diet, but cleansers can start from the inside and can be a welcome addition to the external physical changes we can implement.

So, why do we need to do a colon cleanse?  The answer is simple.  Just consider the standard average American diet and you will realize that our diet is filled with toxins that may come from a number of things such as these:

* drinking impure water
* a poor lifestyle
* bad diet, either consuming unnatural foods, eating too much, or eating too many cooked foods.
* bad environment (smoking, pollution)
* constant use of antibiotics and drugs
* exposure to heavy metals and aluminum

This constant exposure places a huge toll on your colon, potentially leading to ailments such as constipation, ulcerative colitis, and colon cancer. Secondary problems that can result from a buildup of toxins include:

* the common cold/flu
* acne, skin problems, eczema
* brain fog
* depression
* allergies
* candida
* leaky gut syndrome
* constant bloating
* constant shoulder, back pain.
* constant feeling of tiredness
* easily getting sick

Whether you are sluggish, sick, bloated, overweight or have acne or other skin problems, the first and most important step to a body detox is to begin with a colon cleanse.

The need to eliminate waste more efficiently is one of the most critical factors in allowing the body to heal and be in it’s optimum state.  Constipation is a rampant problem among many people.  When undigested food remains in the colon and intestines for a length of time, there are toxins that can be re-circulated back into the body which can cause a number of problems.  Health problems such as arthritis, joint pain, constipation, bloating, candida, acne and other issues are not uncommon.  If you’re not having 1-2 regular bowel movements a day, that in itself can cause serious diseases and illnesses in the future.

But even though you may be about to participate in the best detox program you can find, it cannot possibly replace healthy eating and living. As long as you are putting toxic foods and drinks back into your body, you are reversing the effects of detoxing as you go.  So, by all means avail yourself of a detox to feel better about yourself and your life and you wil find it reinforces healthy decisions in other areas of your life.

But keep in mind that if you turn to internal cleansing as a quick fix for a chronic problem, a lifetime of bad health habits or while continuing a lifestyle that does not support healthy diet and elimination, the results will be be disappointing and short lived, at best.

It is advisable that if you are taking any prescription medications of any kind, that you consult with your doctor before starting on your cleansing program.  In addition, if you have any immune disorders or have a challenged immune system to begin with, you may wish to consider going about a detox very gradually and slowly.  You have to honor your body’s pace and don’t try to force or to rush through the process of detoxification.
