As a disclaimer, I am not a doctor or medical expert and in no way am I suggesting that anyone reading this should self-diagnose or start a detox program on their own without first consulting their doctor or medical practitioner.
The following is meant for information purposes only and is not meant to diagnose or recommend treatment to anyone. You should use caution when embarking upon any diet change, cleansing or detoxification program and you do so at your own risk.
With that said, the following is just my personal experience and recommendations of others who have dealt with the subject of detox and body cleansing. As a matter of fact, many thousands and perhaps millions of people before you have successfully rid themselves of harmful toxins and helped them improve their health through a proper detox.
The method of ridding the body of toxins and waste is known as a detox or detoxification. There are many different kinds of detox programs and some of them target specific organs such as the liver or the gall bladder.
A cleansing body detox is a great way to feel better and more rejuvenated. You can feel more energy, lose weight and cleanse the tissues and organs as well as give your digestive system a cleansing.
One of the most well known detoxing methods is the master cleanse otherwise known as the lemonade diet. It is basically a 10 day fasting during which you drink only fresh water with lemon juice, a small amount of pure maple syrup and a dash of cayenne pepper.
Many people have enjoyed the benefits of such a cleanse and you can too, provided you make sure you have checked with your physician or doctor to see if you have any precautions in doing so.
The health benefits are tremendous as you can rid the body of accumulated waste from the tissues and organs as well as the blood stream. We are bombarding our bodies with sugar, fats, alcohol, cigarettes, coffee and other harmful chemicals and products. Even if we do not drink alcohol or smoke, we are eating foods which might be de-natured or filled with fats and sugars and need to go on a fasting diet or a cleansing diet to get rid of some of these destructive elements.
Then there is the traditional juice fasting which has been done by many thousands of people to help cleanse and rejuvenate the body. Fresh vegetables and fruits are juiced in a juicer which separates the juice from the pulp and cellulose. A typical juice might be made from greens such as kale, spinach and parsley and a hand full of sprouts along with maybe a lemon and some ginger for punch. The lemon makes the juice even healthier and the ginger is anti viral and has healing properties as well.
But aside from maybe adding an apple or pear to a vegetable juice, keep the fruits and vegetables separate when making juices. Avoid the citrus juices and fruits.
A water fast is just fasting with only water being drunk. This allows for a real rest of the digestive system allowing for more toxins to be eliminated.
If you can, make sure to take a sauna, as a good sweat will help cleanse the skin and pores as well as get those toxins out of the body.
Some homeopathic and naturopathic physicians recommend detox kits with drops that you can take that help cleanse and eliminate toxins. Even women can notice that their cellulite starts to disappear when they clean out the toxic materials from their body systems.

I have had a Colonoscopy every other year for the last 20 years and I am only only 50 now and they have changed the prep over the years but when they used the Fleet Phospha-soda they had me follow the following.
Five days before the examination, stop taking iron, aspirin and/or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g., Motrin, Advil,
Feldene, Naprosyn). If you are taking Coumadin, please discuss it with your physician.
One day before the examination:
You may have a regular breakfast.
Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., eat a clear liquid lunch. Clear liquids consist of water, tea, coffee (no milk), soda, broth,
strained fruit juice, Popsicles and Jell-O. Do not ingest red liquids.
Between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., have a clear liquid supper. Following supper, drink Fleet Phospha-soda (1-1/2 fluid opunces or
3 tablespoons) mixed in a half glass (4 ounces) of water. During the remainder of the evening, drink three glasses of plain
water. The solution will cause you to have very loose stools, which is the expected result. At approximately midnight, you
will have finished evacuating the solution. Please have nothing to eat after midnight until the procedure is completed the
next day.
For those procedures scheduled in the morning, on the evening before the examination: Between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m., drink
a second Fleet Phospha-soda (1-1/2 ounces or 3 tablespoons) mixed in a half glass (4 ounces) of water. Please drink an additional
three glasses of plain water, which should be finished by midnight. Please do not eat or drink anything after midnight.
For those procedures schedule in the afternoon, on the morning of the examination: Between 6:00 and 6:30 a.m.,
drink a second Fleet Phospha-soda (1-1/2 ounces or 3 tablespoons) mixed on a half glass (4 ounces) of water.
Please drink an additional three glasses of plain water, which should be finished by 8:00 a.m.
You may take your regular medications with plain water unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. If you have an afternoon
procedure, you may have clear liquids until 8:00 a.m. If you are diabetic, use one-half dose of insulin in the morning or as
instructed by your physician.
In order for this procedure to be performed, you must have a ride home. You will not be discharged from the Endoscopy
Center unless you are accompanied by an adult relative or adult friend who will either drive you home or accompany you
home in a taxi or on public transportation.
Please follow the advise of your DR. and follow his instructions to the letter otherwise your test will be for nothing.
A long time! Actually, just until you clear your system…for me, went several times the day before.
You’re not taking that now and your colonoscopy is next week??
Depends on what u had for breakfast, lunch & dinner, I imagine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL LOL LOL I had one, they SUCK !!!
I hope you haven’t started the fleet yet….too soon! I believe you are only supposed to take it twice before the colonoscopy – one to one and 1/2 days before. The doctor should have told you. Plan on spending a lot of time in the bathroom once you start taking it. It really does clear out your system. It ain’t fun – but it’s so worth it.
It’s frowned on by the docs, but if you add a shot of vodka to the potion, the 8 hours will go a little better.
And thank you for having the colonoscopy.
Too many people die from not doing Colonoscopy.
It is funny that you seem more worried about the enema part than the actual test. It really is not that bad. Take some reading material in with you and relax. Follow the directions. You might as well relax because there is no way of getting out of it.
The colonoscopy itself is painless. I don’t remember any of it.
Look at it this way, it is a very small price to pay for the information it gives your doctor. They found 7 polyps when they did mine and removed them. I told my doctor that to prevent colon cancer I would do the enema and test once every six months if needed. An evening on the toilet doesn’t sound so bad now, does it?
