an 8oz glass for starters. also start eating lots of fiber. get a box of milled flax seed and sprinkle 5-6 tablespoons into a bowl of raisin bran, eat that every morning. the flax seed is also high in omega3 which is so good for you. oatmeal is good too, put the flax seed in that too.
I would say about 12 ounces should help.
You may have to drink a few glasses for it to do anything. I’m also on some constipating meds, and even eatting tons of fruits and veggies and whole grains didn’t do a thing for me. I bought some chewable fiber supplements (Fiber Choice) that really work. They taste fine too.
Prune juice may be thought of for constipation, but I don’t think it has even as much fiber as eatting prunes.
Go to your local grocery store and purchase Sunsweet prune juice, I think it comes in the 32 oz jar. Go home, drink it warm, if u can’t stand the taste, suck on a lemon or orange in between consumption, drink the WHOLE bottle, and wait, make sure u are by your bathroom, u should feel immediate relief… good luck!
Prune juice has never been of any help to me. I currently use a stool softener (over the counter). I wish they would make those meds with a built in softener.

as a rule prune juice is more of a maintanance tool. 240 ml (8 oz) or 2 glasses (16 oz total). is the most you should drink to avoid getting fat from lots of uneccessary calories. if you need a little boost, mix heated prune juice and 1 oz of milk of magnesia and drink while still warm. you should have success by morning.
Daily meds sounds like something you should get away from using. The meds are not only giving you constipation, but they are shortening your life. The free radicals they produce are creating all kinds of problems for you that you may or may not be aware of. Additionally, your liver is suffering and creating more issues than you are aware of I’m sure.
I’m assuming the doctors have prescribed this garbage for you because you have some issues they have identified and their solutions are to give you pills, right?
As a 52 year old, you are definitely suffering from a mild case or maybe severe of hypochloridia. I am assuming the constipation is from some form of antacid, right? If I’m not right, sorry for the misdiagnosis, but at your age, you are only producing less than about 30% of the stomach acid you did when you were 30 and this is going to create the problem you are having. This problem will also add weight around your waste because the food you are eating is just not getting digested properly.
If the doctors are giving you any form of antacids, they are making this problem worse, not better. Taking prune juice will only loosen some of the debris stuck there. It will not solve the problem.
As it turns out, most doctors do not understand this problem at all. You are most likely suffering from bad digestion where you are not producing enough stomach acid and too much lactic acid from rotting food caused by the antacids or the lack of stomach acid being produced by your body!
The drug companies make billions of dollars each year on this ignorance. As we age, we produce less and less stomach acid. By the time we are 80 years old, we only produce about 5% of the stomach acid we produced at the age of 30. This causes food to not be digested and it sits there and rots producing lactic acid from the fermentation process. The lactic acid can be eliminated by taking Betaine HCL (stomach acid) after each meal. This gets rid of any so called "acid indigestion" within a few minutes. If you take the drug company "antacids," you will neutralize the lactic acid, but the food will continue to rot and leave toxins that your body will have to deal with. You will then have to take more drug company products to deal with those issues!
I would strongly suggest not taking the "purple pill," tums, or any other of those garbage drugs that make your body sick from the toxins and compacted feces that are a result of taking that trash.
Our bodies were designed to eat uncooked foods, raw vegetables, etc. Since we cook our foods, we need to add this form of HCL to our diet. Additionally, if you take a quality potassium activator with this HCL, you will remethylate your cells and add years to your life expectancy.
I would suggest purchasing the Betaine HCL & Activator from a company like the one at: http://www.healthline.cc
They sell one of the best forms of this product in my opinion. If you take two Betaine HCL and one Activator after each meal along with a digestive enzyme from this company, you will find that you will not get indigestion and the constipation will go away. Also, you need to take a probiotic (this company sells a great one).
I would suggest you stay totally away from all soy products because this will slow down your thyroid and cause you slow your digestive process as well. I would eliminate all sodas from your diet because the diet sodas create formaldehyde that affects the function of your liver and kidneys. Also, the sodas contain a lot of chlorine from the water they use to make the stuff and this kills your friendly bacteria that is going to help you eliminate better.
If the medications you are taking are prescriptions for other things, there are other ways to deal with most of those issues other than that way. Look into alternative products that will help you.
