It’s very unlikely to help you lose weight. Body cleansing is not supported by science, with no medical benefits demonstrated, and it is based on questionable or disproved scientific claims. In fact there is no scientific evidence to support its claims whatsoever.
No, the only weight you are losing is the faeces in your colon (which would pass out naturally anyway).
Eat less and move more is the only way to lose weight.
If you go on a catabolic fast you loose 1/2 to 1 kg per day for a week or so but this slows down.
The weight loss is artificial though and you put it back on very quickly once you start eating normally again.
I did a fast about 7 yerars ago and measured body composition before and after.
I lost 6kgs in 1 week. It was frightening that around 50% of that was lean mass (muscle). Consequently when you put the weight back on the ratio tends to be less favourable and the percentage of muscle less than you loose unless you go on a radical exercise program.
I’d say its a very bad way of loosing weight.
Its a good way to settle your GI tract as much of the bacteria dies both symbiotic and parasitic however unless you start eating well afterwards the parasitic bacteria re-populates as well.
I don’t agree that the weight you loose is faecal matter. During fasts you tend to eat lots of fruit and veg which has a much higher fibre content going through your guts. Also having measured my body composition before and after I know it did change.
In spite of all this from a 7 day fruit and water fast with 2 days on water I felt terrible during those 7 days but really good once it ended. This lasted for a while mnostly because I ate really well for a good few months after that.
So I think the secret is, if you have a good diet fasting is unecessary.
