not the worst surgery I ever had, but I do have side effects, in the beginning I had very bad gas attacks for the first year, and if i eat certain foods in restaurants, it makes me sick, such as Chinese food. Last year i had pancititis, they found a gall stone in my pancreatic duct from when i had my gall bladder removed 3 years ago. But ll in all, I feel great now. Get it out before it gets too bad.
There isnt that i know of but my brother has spyrosytoses *need a spell check on that* but he needed his spleen and gall bladder taken out in one surgery, he was walking again within a day and doing all the normal things and there isnt a real scar, its not a bad thing to go through especially compared to some of the symptoms of stones so my advice is just go for the surgery its a small surgery with no risk unless your doctor is loaded up on the day!
depending on the size of the gall stones, they can do a laser procedure to dissolve the stones… but, if you do end up having to get the surgery…get it laproscopically [sp?], if possible. that cuts the recovery time down and it cuts down on the time in the hospital also…i had my appendix and my gall bladder removed… both done laproscopically… so if you have any questions… you can email me…[ erika_ekwulz_gratenuss@yahoo.com ]
