As a disclaimer, I am not a doctor or medical expert and in no way am I suggesting that anyone reading this should self-diagnose or start a detox program on their own without first consulting their doctor or medical practitioner.
The following is meant for information purposes only and is not meant to diagnose or recommend treatment to anyone. You should use caution when embarking upon any diet change, cleansing or detoxification program and you do so at your own risk.
With that said, the following is just my personal experience and recommendations of others who have dealt with the subject of detox and body cleansing. As a matter of fact, many thousands and perhaps millions of people before you have successfully rid themselves of harmful toxins and helped them improve their health through a proper detox.
The method of ridding the body of toxins and waste is known as a detox or detoxification. There are many different kinds of detox programs and some of them target specific organs such as the liver or the gall bladder.
A cleansing body detox is a great way to feel better and more rejuvenated. You can feel more energy, lose weight and cleanse the tissues and organs as well as give your digestive system a cleansing.
One of the most well known detoxing methods is the master cleanse otherwise known as the lemonade diet. It is basically a 10 day fasting during which you drink only fresh water with lemon juice, a small amount of pure maple syrup and a dash of cayenne pepper.
Many people have enjoyed the benefits of such a cleanse and you can too, provided you make sure you have checked with your physician or doctor to see if you have any precautions in doing so.
The health benefits are tremendous as you can rid the body of accumulated waste from the tissues and organs as well as the blood stream. We are bombarding our bodies with sugar, fats, alcohol, cigarettes, coffee and other harmful chemicals and products. Even if we do not drink alcohol or smoke, we are eating foods which might be de-natured or filled with fats and sugars and need to go on a fasting diet or a cleansing diet to get rid of some of these destructive elements.
Then there is the traditional juice fasting which has been done by many thousands of people to help cleanse and rejuvenate the body. Fresh vegetables and fruits are juiced in a juicer which separates the juice from the pulp and cellulose. A typical juice might be made from greens such as kale, spinach and parsley and a hand full of sprouts along with maybe a lemon and some ginger for punch. The lemon makes the juice even healthier and the ginger is anti viral and has healing properties as well.
But aside from maybe adding an apple or pear to a vegetable juice, keep the fruits and vegetables separate when making juices. Avoid the citrus juices and fruits.
A water fast is just fasting with only water being drunk. This allows for a real rest of the digestive system allowing for more toxins to be eliminated.
If you can, make sure to take a sauna, as a good sweat will help cleanse the skin and pores as well as get those toxins out of the body.
Some homeopathic and naturopathic physicians recommend detox kits with drops that you can take that help cleanse and eliminate toxins. Even women can notice that their cellulite starts to disappear when they clean out the toxic materials from their body systems.

Are you talking about fresh lemonade with maple syrup and cayenne pepper? You can do that safely once a week at any age, I’m sure. It will ‘clean you out’. I would eat a balanced diet of at least 2000 calories a day for the other six days though, and up to 2500 if your younger than 20.
Add: When I was about 15 I did it for seven days, but I really wouldn’t suggest that. I don’t think I’m qualified to give advice on how long. I was suggesting it as a 24 hour ‘juice fast’ once a week. It’s really pretty easy to do a true fast once a week… just skip one dinner and one breakfast – then you can go two days, three… I’ve never done more than three, but my gf did ten and was bed-ridden.
But I don’t know if you are ill and trying to cleanse, or if you are trying to lose weight, or both… just be careful not to get dehydrated if you do it, get some natural sea salt that still has electrolytes in it. Looking on the web now I see they have ‘kits’ called mastercleanse, and wiki has good info on the cleanse http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_Cleanse but by no means should you go past ten days.
I’m not sure I see the value of it for a teen (if you are) I did it then because my Dad was doing it.
I’m sorry I don’t have a better answer for you, but did want to follow up. Do you have a naturopath or regular doctor you can ask about it? Here’s a dietician who says *******teens should NOT****** do the diet and has a few other warnings http://www.videojug.com/interview/master-cleanse-diet-dangers-2 there are three other categories of videos on it on the middle of the page. Looks like very sound information, I watched two sections.
Please watch all the videos, there is a section with side effects.
Good luck.
its not healthy. basically starvation, but I dont think it would hurt you if you did a week or so and are in good health. Age? yeah, I wouldnt do that drastic of a diet until older, 18+
Im 16 and i did the lemonade diet for 15 day. I lost 30 pounds. It was so worth it. I felt healthier than i ever did before. I just searched for videos on Youtube. Thats what helped me get through it. And dont listen to what these a holes say crap about this.
Good Luck, Cheers
Its not going to be good for you.
never heard of the lemonade diet, but i’ve heard of the "lemon diet".
no there are no sid affects at all. my mom took the diet and she was fine. the diet it actually recommended for a person to do once or twice a year because it clenses the body and if you wanna loose weight, it’s great for that!
as soon as you stop drinking nothing but lemonade you will gain all the wait back and even more because your metabolism will slow way down…also you will need to take vitamin supplements and protein..you also should drink it often and drink water as well..and don’t drink that sugar lemonade crap drink real lemonade NO frozen stuff or bottled!
If your going on the lemonade diet, you should do a few things. First of all, make sure that its sugar-free lemonade. Next eat light vegitables like spinach, or other greens. You should attempt cardio-exersizes and light moderation exersizes.
Doe not sound healthy no matter what age! Just eat right and exercise , any diet taking food out of the equation isn’t a good idea. Also you can have your sweets at times, but do not abuse it. If you deprive yourself of things you like completely, then you will binge. Try eating six little meals everyday along with exercise and you should see results , you burn calories hours after you exercise so you need your carbs. Snacks like carrot sticks, celery, apple slices and cheese cubes are good and yet healthy.
any crash diet will ultimately cause you to gain the weight you lost back as soon as you begin eating foods again. its not a good idea to crash diet. just eat healthier and exercise. its the only proven way.
Do not know if you meant this diet but it’s basically squeezing one whole lemon into 2L of water and drinking it all at one time in the morning. You’ll feel full and bloated. I tried it for 3 weeks (was recommended that I do it for only 1 or 2 weeks).
It made me feel so full and bloated that I feel less hungry however I ran to the toilet more often and after I stopped the diet, I put the back the kilo I lost.
