I am writing a story for English and my character is a 15 yr old drug addict (I am not assigning a specific drug for her to be addicted to; she does anything that will give her a high) I am trying to figure out how the whole detox/rehab thing would work. I would rather write about her in detox rather than in rehab being taught to stay off of drugs. Any information at all on this would be helpful. =]

I am not looking for a quick fix. I have read numerous articles from different health professionals (including M.D.s) on the subject, but they do not suggest any specific program.
OK people detox here is not for drug/alcohol it is detoxifying the body from harmful chemicals we obtain from foods, etc. Please, read more and know what you are talking about before you answer.

I’ve been on weed for like a year and did it nearly every day. Now the high school is giving all the guys on the football team that seem "likely to be on drugs" a drug test.
So…How long do I have to be sober before I can pass a drug test?

I have been staying at my boyfriends house for about a month, and I am trying to get a job. His moms boyfriend smokes pot every single day, and a lot of it. If im inhaling it second hand, can i pass a drug test? I don’t smoke or do any drugs. Thanks.

I keep on reading that the most common type of drug test is the 5-panel one which does not test for Benzodiazepines. So If my friend does Benzos he’ll pass the drug test? He wants to apply for a job as a medical assistant. Or do they test for more drugs nowadays?

In 4-5 years I will be enrolling in a teacher’s credential program. My intended program of choice is Health Science, I will be responsible for promoting safe sex and saying no to drugs. However, within the past few years I have used marijuana. I don’t plan on using it ever again but I’m concerned that it is in my HAIR. Does anyone know if they do a strand test on all teachers? Please save your comment if you feel I am not cut out to be a teacher because I have used marijuana. It actually makes me MORE fit to deal with these issues because I have witnessed drug use and unplanned pregnancy first hand, which is why I feel strongly about these causes in the first place. I am only asking to see if I need to cut my hair at some point to avoid a positive reading.
Going to let the voters have this one because they were all good answers. Just to clarify- I would never be completely candid with my students, thats just asking for trouble. I just meant I have a stronger urge to keep people OFF of it because of first hand experience.

I heard that jello powder and water works as a detox. I’m not sure if my friend should rely just on that to dillute whatever…she’ll get in BIG trouble if something shows up.

Well it’s a bit too late to not take drugs for her, she made a bad choice while she happens to be on probation. Don’t state the obvious, I asked for help, not a smarta**ish remark.
