I am very curious about something. How many people out there who have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, smoke or live with smokers? I have recently stumbled upon an article that says Carbon Monoxide Poisoning (which you can get from smoking or second hand smoke) may mimic irritable bowel syndrome. This is serious so please only serious answers. Thank you!
Actually to respond to someones answer I am a vegetarian. That allevitated some of the symptoms but I still get symptoms from the IBS and lately it has actually cause severe anxiety
I actually thought it was what I ate at first too but it isn’t. I can eat cheese one day and be sick and the next day not. They tell me to eat fiber, makes me sick one day.. doesn’t the next. I don’t really believe IBS has too much to do with food to be perfectly honest
Can everyone stop telling me what irritable bowel is.. I’ve had it for 12 yrs I think I know. Please just answer the question. If I needed other information I would have asked

I’ve been having stomach problems for the past 3 or 4 months. I’ve been constipated constantly and when I manage to go (every 4 or 5 days) I have diarrhea. Almost every day I’ve been bloated and I’ve suddenly gotten a sharp pain in the left side of my groin. I’ve tried Miralax, Correctol, vegetable laxatives, plum juice and eating numerous vegetables but nothing helps. Could it be possible that I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
My stomach is also very tender to the touch and has this strange uncomfortable feeling.

I have irritable bowel syndrome and have been under an extreme amount of stress lately (might be losing my job). I have been having something weird happening that I can only describe as a shaking, shivering feeling in my entire abdominal area, like when you’ve been out in the cold too long. I feel it most when I’m lying in bed at night. It is freaky and annoying. Anyone else every had this?

I have been diagnosed with bipolar II (1 year), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (4 years) and self diagnosed Restless Leg Syndrome (15 years).
I am a 28 yr old male, could there be a link in the illnesses? I read articles of links between 2 of the 3 but wasn’t sure if anyone else out there had experience of all 3?

I have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). I just recently started taking an over the counter medication for it. I drink a cup of coffee a day, sometimes none at all. My friend says that I should cut out coffee completely. I wouldn’t miss it, but I was wondering if that was necessary? It doesn’t say anything about caffeine consumption on the box or the bottle of the medication.

i may have irritable bowel syndrome. i have the following symptoms: gas, cramping, occasional abdominal pain, fever occasionally, belching, occasional acid indigestion. some cramping leads to going to the bathroom, i cant say whether its just loose stools or actual diarreah. ive been tested for so many things with my doc except stomach xrays. so im thinking of seeing a gastro doctor next week. in the meantime, what foods can i eat with this stuff occuring? ive been eating grilled chicken with teriyaki glaze, chunky brand chicken noodle soup, yogurt, and hot dogs. my doctor gave me librax for my stomach to take up to 3 times a day. i only take once, maybe this is the cause of the still-continuing-cramping? im okay during the day most this stuff occurs at night, or the next morning. my main concern is what to take for lunches while at work. ive been buying hot dogs..dont know if thats such a good idea or not. ive been on liquids for a long time bc i thought this was a stomach flu. i’m 21

My husband has Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). We never know what is going to trigger an episode. By epsode I mean abdominal cramps, and some heinous diarrhea. It hits within moments of eating. If he eats something one night and has no episode, we never know if two weeks later eating the exact same thing will send his system into fits of IBS. So there are no foods that we know to avoid. Heck, eating some nutter-butter crackers set him off tonight! Some evenings we can’t even leave the house because a toilet has to be nearby.
It seems to be a mystery condition. His General Practitioner gave him some medicine to ‘stop colon spasms’, thinking that would help, but it has done nothing beneficial at all. I’m thinking we need to take him to a Gastrointerologist. But from what I’ve heard, there is just no cure.
Does anyone else out there have this, or lives with someone who has it. If so, what on earth can be done? It is miserable.
