Since around February 6th to now I have been experiencing Abdominal pain(especially on lower left and right abdomen), bowel changes( constipation, diarrhea, normal), nausea(on occasion). I went to the pediatrician doctor February 18 and took a blood and urine test and nothing was wrong. Doctor suggested I just had a stomach bug that would pass quickly. I went to my university doctor March 17 and was told it most likely was irritable bowel syndrome or lactose intolerance but she was not sure and told me to see a gastreontologist (stomach doctor).
I wanted to get more information from others with IBS. I am 18 and female. I have lost weight(3 lbs) from changing my diet. Just recently( a week) I completely changed it to mostly soluble fiber and insoluble and practically no milk. I feel like my symptoms happen so often that it cannot be IBS.
Is this IBS or something else?

I’m 16 years old and have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Does anyone know of any tips or remedies that will help my condition? I seem to have a lot of trouble with loose foods such as oats. It’s a bad condition and I’m a kid, and do not enjoy having it. I get constipated regularly or I have diarrhea. I just want to know of any kind of tips or something that could help guide me in what foods I should eat and what I should stay away from…please help….thanks.

I’ve been having several tests done on me, trying to figure out what’s wrong with my stomach and bowels and stuff. My gastroenterologist has been absolutely positive that I suffer from IBS. It is not caused by food or food allergies. Even drinking a bottle of water bloats my stomach to the point of looking pregnant.

He suspected that stress and depression are what is causing it, and sent me to a therapist. I’ve been seeing her for months without any improvement.

I finally had my endoscopy and colonoscopy done, only to find out that physically, I am perfectly fine. My doctor told me the only way to deal with the Irritable Bowel Syndrome is to deal with the depression.

I’ve been prescribed Xanax and Prozac to deal with this. I’ve only been on it for about a week, and I know that I shouldn’t expect any improvements so soon, but I guess I was just wondering if anyone else was suffering from this, and if anything helped them at all… I’m just worried that I’m going to be stuck this way.

Im gonna admit im 14 years old and I have irritable bowel syndrome I was born with it. now heres the problem I havent really had a good bowel movement in 4 days I have been constipated and I was wondering if anybody knew any type of Laxative or anything that will make you go to the bathroom that day? I eat tones of fiber I eat grilled chicken salads and fiber bars but also i do take laxatives and they havent been working so does anybody know something that will make me go quickly and not in a day? thank you so much.

I am having attack of IBS "irritable bowel syndrome" which is making me very "irritable" and it is painful. I have been told to go on bland diet however having hard time figuring what to eat and don’t eat. also everytime i eat or drink i am having bowel issue and bloating and pain. the bloating makes me look pregnant. also suffering from tiredness and severe headache because i am not drinking any coffee.

I have been on some sites concerning "IBS" however really they are no help. Anyone have answers for me to help me get over this?

I have been with my partner almost 4 years and he has a bad case of irritable bowel syndrome. Also he gets trapped air which causes him great pain and his burps are really long. I wondered what’s available for him to take to relieve this. He always seems to be in pain and it gets in the way of everythin. The doctor said his ibs gets worse when he is nervous. I’m dreading the birth of out child next year. Poor thing. Does anyone have anythin similar?

Has anyone heard of a product called donnatal? Their website www.donnatal.com says its used to treat the symptoms of IBS (irritable colon, spastic colon, mucous colitis and acute enterocolitis). There are not many prescriptions out there for treating irritable bowel syndrome and I am curious to know peoples thoughts on this one. Thank you in advance!

Common as it is, in some cases it’s debilitating, and even if it isn’t, having it will severely reduce the quality of your life. I feel for the people who do have it, as I may have it myself – I’ll find out in a few weeks once the doctors have had their fun with me.

Why not assemble a team of gastrointerologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, immunologists, microbiologists, etc… and get to the bottom of this already?
We’ve mapped out the entire human genome – a cure for IBS can’t be too hard to find.

I have been suffering from this for a very long time. I have seen doctors and have been in the hospital (inflamed large intestine) no surgery but they said if the swelling didn’t go down then they would.

I have sharp stabbing pains on the right side of my stomach that start along side my belly button and shoot straight down. They come and go. Like contractions.

I suffer from this from time to time. It could be months without out any pain and then it flares up again. I think its been about 7 months since this happened and I am suffering from it again. It’s been 2 days now. I have diarrhea also.

Does this sound like Irritable bowel syndrome?
Doctors never told me it was. never said anything.
Though when I was pregnant I had this and thought I was in labor and My doctor then told me he thought it was Irritable Bowel syndrome

Does anyone have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) my doctor doesn’t think I have it buit he reffered me to a specialist who said I probably do have it.. but the specialist was a jerk caus he put me on anti-depressants and I am CERTAINLY not depressed..

So do you have IBS or know someone with it?
I know there is no cure but what can you do to help?

So my doctor thinks that i have irritable bowel syndrome and im one a few pills (i take fiber choice twice a day, bentyl 4 times a day, hyoscyamine 1 a day, and he just put me on something else that i havent taken yet ((pamelor)) and my mom looked up pamelor and she said its for SYCODICK ppl ((he told me its for depression and he seems to think that the pamelor is going to help the crapping i get in my stomach wut do u think??? do u think that is is b/s or is it just me and my mom? lol )) and the pills dont seem to be doing anything (i have been on them a few month or so also but yea i was just wondering if you have (ibs) wut meds are u taking?? and do they seem to work for u?? cuz im gettin really sick of all this pain its unbareable!!
