I have been suffering from this for a very long time. I have seen doctors and have been in the hospital (inflamed large intestine) no surgery but they said if the swelling didn’t go down then they would.

I have sharp stabbing pains on the right side of my stomach that start along side my belly button and shoot straight down. They come and go. Like contractions.

I suffer from this from time to time. It could be months without out any pain and then it flares up again. I think its been about 7 months since this happened and I am suffering from it again. It’s been 2 days now. I have diarrhea also.

Does this sound like Irritable bowel syndrome?
Doctors never told me it was. never said anything.
Though when I was pregnant I had this and thought I was in labor and My doctor then told me he thought it was Irritable Bowel syndrome

Does anyone have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) my doctor doesn’t think I have it buit he reffered me to a specialist who said I probably do have it.. but the specialist was a jerk caus he put me on anti-depressants and I am CERTAINLY not depressed..

So do you have IBS or know someone with it?
I know there is no cure but what can you do to help?

So my doctor thinks that i have irritable bowel syndrome and im one a few pills (i take fiber choice twice a day, bentyl 4 times a day, hyoscyamine 1 a day, and he just put me on something else that i havent taken yet ((pamelor)) and my mom looked up pamelor and she said its for SYCODICK ppl ((he told me its for depression and he seems to think that the pamelor is going to help the crapping i get in my stomach wut do u think??? do u think that is is b/s or is it just me and my mom? lol )) and the pills dont seem to be doing anything (i have been on them a few month or so also but yea i was just wondering if you have (ibs) wut meds are u taking?? and do they seem to work for u?? cuz im gettin really sick of all this pain its unbareable!!

okay well after countless posts about my symptoms, I went to see my GP yesterday. after telling her my symptoms (change in period after 8 years of having them -heavy one month, light spotting the next, brown discharge), a painful stitch under my left rib and the feeling of something digging into my lower stomach when I walked. she felt my stomach, commented that I certainly looked and felt bloated..there was no pain when she was feeling around..then she told me it was irritable bowel syndrome and prescribed me some medication

so my question is, is this how this is diagnosed? just a simple feel of the stomach? and does IBS make your stomach balloon out so you look 5 months pregnant?..
my doctor put me on mebeverine hydrochloride.
also, all my doctor did was feel my stomach, and do a pregnancy test on me. then she told me it was IBS.

I was diagnosed with Irritable bowel syndrome about 2 years ago after I went through a colonoscopy. Recently my doctor left my area and I had to find a new one. My new doctor ordered me yet another colonoscopy and a upper GI because of more problems I have been having. So the new colonoscope didn’t show that I had irritable bowel syndrome.It was normal, tho I still have painful bowels, cramps, and diarrhea. But now my new doctor tells me I have gastritis of the stomach. And now im taking yet more meds. Im losing faith in the medical community slowly because it seems like I being bounced around from one thing to another and still in pain. So can irritable bowel syndrome go away on its own or be misdiagnosed? Or should I be worried that im being misdiagnosed now as well? Im so confused.

my daughters boyfriend says he has it and after two years he finally told her she loves him. i cleaned up his vomit 3 times about 4-5 months ago me and my daughter were tested a week ago the test said negative thank god but i have irritable bowel syndrome and i have these piching pains usually on my left side but under all this stress i have been having them on my upper right side and now i am scared beacuse thats you liver area and i have itchy rash on my stomach i dont know i thats where you get rash with hepatitis it could be just a heat rash i heard that hepatits c can mimick so many other things but my test was negative and i have heard these test are pretty reliable are they
they tested me while they were testing my daughter after i told them i cleaned up his vomit but they said if i did get it that way it would because i had a cut on my hand

It is my understanding that a preventative colonoscopy costs less than a diagnostic one per insurance rules. It is my understanding that colonoscopies are recommended for those people starting at age 50. I am 58 and never had one. I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) symptoms. I asked my doc about getting one during my last exam and he gave me a referral. I will probably make an appointment soon…but am concerned about cost. Anyone have any idea? thx.

Since last week, I’ve been feeling abdominal pain for almost everyday which is worrying me. Not only that, but I also have constipation. I have irritable bowel syndrome…and I’m 19.
