After removing the bowel initially you would face some problems. After one or two years you would get habituated. However its a point of no return. Once the bowel is removed there is no way you would get it back.
My wife is suffering from Ulcerative colitis since last 15 years. She reached the state of operation four years back. However we were lucky to get one Doctor (surgeon) who is expert in it. He preformed TEMS (Trans Endocrine Micro Surgery). He had burned the wound and stitched it with Laser.
After 4 years she is not cured of the symptom fully but the disease is under control without removing the bowel. Only thin she is under strict diet control. After 15 years of suffering we know exactly which food causes her more problem and she never takes them. And also we do check by Colonoscopy once every year.
