What are the tell-tale signs of a gall bladder attack?
One of my friends had gastric bypass surgery in July (one of the side we were told about was gall stones/attacks). On christmas she was complaining of the following: bad indigestion and gas (not relieved even by taking four anti-gas pills, pain near the breastbone, constipation that would not go away with laxitives, and pain near the shoulders and in the back. Any help?
Also, my friend is currently laid off and so she does not want to pay for a doctor unless it is absolutely necessary.

This is a gall bladder attack. My wife went through this. Her pain was maybe 2" above the navel and it seemed to be widely spread around her abdomen. It can get very bad. Nausea, bad digestion, vomiting. You probably have fomed a gall stone or sludge. Out here where I live (Oregon) gastric bypass surgery automatically comes with a gall bladder removal because these problems are so common in people who drastically reduce their food intake. This will NOT just "go away" and I would ask you in the strongest way I can here to see your gastroenterologsit or bypass surgeon (IF NOT THE E-ROOM) soon!!! For the time being, just quit eating solids for a couple days, then switch to liquids that are low fat…tea, broth, pop, etc. Ant-acids and Gas-Ex are OK.
if it were gall bladder attacks it would be very bad, probably unbearable.
that doesn’t sound too good though try and get your friend a doctors app.
As you can tell from the previous answers, there really are no definitive tell-tale signs of a gallbladder attacks – they vary in location, severity, and duration from person to person. In any case, your friend should see a doctor and possibly get an abdominal ultrasound which will determine where the problem is.
