What can i do to stop irritable bowel syndrome??

I have IBS for well over 10 years when I was ill in early summer. At first, I thought & feared that I may have colitis again ( I was stricken with it before after having salmonella (food) poisoning from working at Colby College in 1988). I was in agony for nearly 3 months until my personal doctor gave me the correct diagnosis. I still suffer from constipation & occasional diarrhea almost daily Got any ideas?

I have had some luck using fish oil pills. It seems to calm the intestines.
Fiber helps.. avoid raw veggies, Eat well balanced meals.
Lots of water.
Mom liked Bentyl when it got bad.
Irritable bowel syndrome varies from person to person. There is no cure, but you can prevent the symptoms. Read books on IBS and learn what works for you. Avoid big meals at all times. Eat small meals, regularly.
