Why would gallstones cause pain if lining of gall bladder is not inflamed?

I have moderate discomfort, textbook for gallstone attack, and ultrasound reveals 2 gallstones in my gal bladder. However, the lining of the gall bladder is not currently inflamed. So, if it’s not inflamed, how is it causing me pain? Can they still cause pain even when not inflamed?

Your gallbladder’s job is to contract and "squeeze out" bile into your G.I. tract every time you eat to help emulsify the fats you ate. If you have gallstones…your gallbladder gets irritated when it contracts with stones inside of it.
Also if the stones are lodged in the neck of the gallbladder (small neck-like opening) that can cause pain too because they are essentially stuck there and causes irritation.
Hope this makes sense.
